The Artist behind KS Imaginarium: Meet Kamilla

Updated: Jun 5

Welcome to the first entry in my personal diary.

If you are reading this, you’ve likely followed me over from the cozy days of Our Craft Nook, or perhaps you've just discovered my tiny world for the very first time. Either way, you are incredibly welcome here.

The Chronicles are meant to be a quiet space where the digital world fades away, giving you a seat right next to my workbench. This is where I will be sharing my thoughts, sketches, and the quiet daily happenings inside the studio. But before we look forward, I wanted to anchor this page with the true story of how a lifetime of woodland wonder grew into the KS Imaginarium you see today.

As a teenager, my uncle used to tease me, saying, “You’ll be dating boys soon, but you’re still playing with teddies.” I was an avid collector of vintage teddy bears back then, and honestly? He was right. Today, I am a middle-aged mom of three, and I am proud to say I am still playing with teddies —except now, I am creating them by hand.

This love for hidden, miniature worlds started in my childhood, when I would draw endless mushroom houses and imagine them as cozy homes for bugs, fairies, and elves. Years later, that exact fairytale spark was reignited by my daughter. I watched her build intricate little houses and furniture out of ordinary household items. As her dioramas grew more complex, she invited me into her world of tiny creations, and I was completely hooked. She has since grown up and moved on to other things, but I remained completely captivated by this realm of imagination.

I always adored dressing tiny dolls, but store-bought animals never had the quality or durability I wanted. When I was gifted a beginner’s needle-felting kit, I challenged myself to make my own. Teddies came first, but I soon realized that mice were the ultimate canvas. Their natural tripod shape —two little feet and a tail— makes them incredibly joyful to pose in detailed scenes. Before long, characters inspired by Beatrix Potter and Brambly Hedge were popping up all over my workspace.

What started as a quiet crafting hobby has completely outgrown its original boundaries. Today, KS Imaginarium is a living world where I craft animal dolls in all shapes and sizes, from 1:48 scale to 1:12 scale. Every single piece is a labor of love, whether it is a sophisticated Georgian Lady Mouse in a historical gown, or a tiny critter wearing denim dungarees and little frog wellies.

When people adopt these characters, I see them smile. They become little lucky charms that bring real-world joy, and that is why I love making custom orders so much. Please always feel free to reach out with your wishes. I will always do my absolute best to create the mouse of your life for you.

Thank you for stepping across the threshold and joining me on this journey. Look around, explore the new pages, and let your imagination wander.

Love,

Kamilla
